Salvatore J. Lombardi, M.D., founding partner of our group,
received his fellowship training in maternal fetal medicine at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center, where he was co-founder of the CVS program and
was the first physician to perform chorionic villus sampling, both
transcervical and transabdominal. He remained on the full-time
academic faculty until 1992, during which time he received numerous awards
to include the prestigious American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists, Purdue Frederick Award for Excellence in Medical Research.
Dr. Lombardi was one of the innovators in the field of obstetric
Doppler velocimetry, presenting his work both nationally and
internationally. He is published in the fields of both ultrasound
and genetics. He received the Outstanding Community Hospital Research
Award for his work in the area of genetics at the 1994 meeting of the
Society of Perinatal Obstetricians.
Dr. Lombardi's academic and
administrative appointments include Assistant Professor, Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Vanderbilt
University Medical Center; founder and director of the Division of
Maternal Fetal Medicine, Baptist Hospital, Nashville, TN; Director,
Vanderbilt University OBGYN residency at Baptist Hospital; Director of
Ultrasound, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Baptist Hospital;
Director of Obstetrics, Metropolitan Nashville General Hospital,
Nashville, TN; Assistant Professor, Meharry Medical College, Nashville,
TN; and Clinical Director, Maternal Infant-Childcare Program, Nashville,
TN. His areas of special interest and expertise include chorionic
villus sampling, fetal anomalies, Doppler velocimetry and prenatal genetic
diagnoses.
Dr. Lombardi graduated from the University of Nuevo
Leon, Monterrey, Mexico. He received his fellowship training at
Vanderbilt University and completed his residency at State University of
New York, Buffalo, NY. Dr. Lombardi is board-certified in Obstetrics
and Gynecology as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Stephen
J. Fortunato, M.D., is a Senior Partner of Maternal Fetal Group.
His maternal fetal fellowship training was at Parkland Hospital in
Dallas. He held faculty positions at East Tennessee State
University; and Wright State University School of Medicine where he was
Vice Chairman, Director of OBICU. He came to our group from Tulane
University School of Medicine where he was Section Chief of Maternal Fetal
Medicine, Director of OBICU and Director of Maternity Service for the
Tulane Medical Center.
Dr. Fortunato has been published and won
international acclaim for his work on placental transport, premature
rupture of the membranes and the molecular basis of prematurity. His
research has won national and international awards from ACOG, the Society
of Perinatal Obstetricians, the Society of Gynecologic Investigation, the
Society of the Fetus as a Patient and the Central Association of
Obstetricians & Gynecologists. He serves as Medical Director of
the Perinatal Risk Management Program for HCA. Additionally, he
serves as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Proterm, a newly formed
pharmaceutical company. He is Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at
the Women's Hospital at Centennial Medical Center.
Dr. Fortunato is
a reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of OBGYN and
sits on study sections for the National Institute of Health and the New
Zealand Health Research Council. His clinical interests include
echocardiography, medical complications of pregnancy, invasive fetal
procedures and prematurity.
Dr. Fortunato graduated from University
of Cincinnati. He received his fellowship training at University of
Texas Southwestern and completed his residency at the University of New
Mexico. Dr. Fortunato is board-certified in Obstetrics and
Gynecology, as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Tiffanee Lenzi, M.D., Ph. D joined the Maternal
Fetal Group/Pediatrix in December, 2008. Dr. Lenzi completed her
fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Michigan in
2005, followed by a residency in Medical Genetics, Department of
Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the Wayne State
University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed her residency
program at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California.
Dr. Lenzi served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She is certified
in Clinical Genetics, through the American Board of Medical Genetics.
Dr. Lenzi has received numerous awards throughout her training among
which is the award for Excellence in Patient Care.
Dr. Lenzi currently holds memberships in the American
Medical Association, American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology,
Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, and the American Institute of
Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).
Guoyang
Luo, M.D., Ph. D received his maternal-fetal medicine
fellowship training at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New
York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Luo received a doctorate in microbiology and immunity from
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston,
Texas, and a master’s degree in molecular
immunology from Peking Union Medical
College in Beijing, China.
He earned his medical degree from Hunan Medical
University in
Hunan, China.
Dr. Luo’s work is widely published in a variety of medical journals,
including Reviews in
Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Sciences, American Journal of
Obstetrics & Gynecology, and
Journal of Perinatal Medicine.
His research topics include contemporary management of post-term
pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis and risks associated with in vitro
pregnancies with early spontaneous reduction.
Dr. Luo is a member of numerous professional organizations, including
the American
College of Obstetrics and
Gynecology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and Society of
Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Additionally, Dr. Luo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at
Yale
University, New Haven, Connecticut.

Kathleen
A. Mayor-Lynn, M.D. received her maternal-fetal medicine
fellowship training at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine
in Gainesville,
and was awarded the Golden Apple for Excellence in Medical Education by
the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She also received a master’s degree in clinical investigation
from UF. Dr. Mayor-Lynn
completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at
Jackson
Memorial
Hospital
in Miami,
Florida
and was honored with Mary J. O’Sullivan Award for excellence in
obstetrics. She received her
medical degree from the
University
Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine
and is Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology with the American
Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Published several times in the
American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr Mayor-Lynn’s
research topics include neonatal GBS Sepsis and significance of
accidental extensions in the lower uterine segment during cesarean
delivery.
She is an experienced lecturer at conferences hosted by the World
Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Society for
Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and William A. Little Obstetrical and
Gynecological Alumni Society.
Dr. Mayor-Lynn is a member of numerous professional organizations,
